Furniture Recycling & Disposal Service

When you order new furniture, you have to work out what you're going to do with your old furniture. Thankfully, there are plenty of furniture removal and disposal services you can choose to responsibly recycle your furniture.

At Fairway Furniture, we offer a number of options to dispose of your old furniture safely and legally, from free charity collection services to affordable paid services that remove your old items when your new items are delivered.

Fairway Furniture's Collection & Recycling Service

In addition to our comprehensive delivery options, we also offer a furniture collection and recycling service for your old items.

For a small transportation fee, we’ll collect your old furniture when we deliver your new items on a like-for-like basis. For example, if we deliver a new sofa, we will take away your old one.

If your old furniture is in good condition and meets safety regulations, we partner with charities to rehome it. If the items can't be reused, we will recycle them as part of our goal to become net-zero by 2030.

To add this service to your online order, please email our website team at enquiries@fairwayfurniture.co.uk. They can add the disposal option to your order after you've placed it. Please note that payment for this service must be made in full before your delivery.

British Heart Foundation - Furniture Collection Service

Alternatively, you can contact the British Heart Foundation directly to schedule a free collection of your unwanted furniture. You can even arrange it for a time that suits you.

Your items will then be sold in one of their 700+ charity shops across the UK. The money raised helps fund life-saving research, so you’ll be clearing out your home while supporting a worthy cause.

This service, offered by the British Heart Foundation, is FREE of charge.

The British Heart Foundation has stricter requirements for the furniture they collect compared to our service.

They can only accept items that are in a saleable condition, meaning the furniture should be clean, undamaged, and functional. They also require that all relevant safety tags, including fire safety labels, must be intact and clearly visible.

These guidelines ensure that the furniture meets safety standards and can be sold in their shops to help raise vital funds.

Local Authority Bulky Goods Collection Services

All local councils offer abulky goods disposal service, allowing you to arrange a special collection for unwanted items like a sofa, dining set, or mattress. This service is a convenient way to dispose of large furniture you can't move yourself.

Councils use their own collection vehicles and employ local staff who will come to your property and handle your old furniture with care, ensuring it's removed safely, efficiently, and most importantly, legally.

Be Wary of Private Waste Removal Companies

While booking a private waste removal company might seem convenient, especially if you have a large amount of furniture, it's vital to check they are fully licensed.

Hiring an unlicensed company can lead to problems like illegal fly-tipping.

If your illegally dumped items are traced back to you, you could face hefty fines and legal trouble, even if you weren't aware of the company's practices. This is because you have a legal duty to make sure your waste is disposed of correctly.

Always ask for proof of a waste carrier’s license and obtain a receipt or written evidence to confirm where your furniture will be taken to avoid any potential issues.

Be Responsible With Your Old Furniture With Fairway

No matter which furniture disposal service you choose, it's important to dispose of your old furniture responsibly. Proper disposal ensures you comply with legal requirements, helps protect the environment by reducing waste, and promotes recycling.

By confirming that your chosen service operates ethically and sustainably, you can help minimise your environmental impact.

Don’t forget to add our old furniture removal and disposal service to your order to make upgrading your home simple and convenient.
